~~ FRANKENSTEIN ~~ The Creature Auction

Hey guys,

As some of you might know, my dear friend Steve Niles and his partner Monica Richards have suffered some devastating damage to their house in Austin last week due to flash floods.
The damage was so heavy that Steve and Monica had to relocate to temporary housing while they figure out what can be done to salvage the house (and their goods).

Steve has always been the first to jump into action when someone else needed help (both among peeps of the industry or national tragedies like last year's hurricane SANDY), so it's the right thing for all of us to help him out now that he is the one in need.

For this reason I decided to auction this artwork from my personal vault: the Creature of Frankenstein is a favorite of Steve's and a personal favorite of mine, so I thought it would be fitting to put this up for grabs.
This piece was done for Comic Twart and it's the very first "TWART" art I am putting on sale/auction. It's for a good cause so it needed something special.

Here's how it'll work (because I don't use eBay):

Original artwork is fully inked on 9x12" bristol board.
If you're interested, please type your bid in the comments feature. Bidding starts at $200 and goes up in $5 (or multiple of 5) increments.
Important: Paypal payment only ~ US bidders only at this time.

Bidding will end at 3pm EST (that's 12pm for the west-coasters) tomorrow, Sat, Oct 26, 2013.

Highest bidder* gets the art and I will be sending the money raised to Steve to help him with his recovery efforts.
I'm also covering the shipping cost for the winner.
This is a great chance to donate to a good cause and get some nice art in the process.

If you'd like to help more, here is the link to Steve Niles' store page where you can buy some of his books and help at the same time: http://www.steveniles.net/store.html

Cheers,
Francesco

*In case the highest bidder doesn't come through with payment, prize goes to 2nd highest bidder.
Paypal payment only ~ US bidders only at this time.

FFlipping Through Previews ~ August 2013

Hello everyone! :)

Since I am getting busier than usual, I thought to start to do a monthly post about my work in the current PREVIEWS catalog. This will help you - and mostly me - to keep track of all the FF work that comes out every month. (that's why, pun intended, I titled this FFlipping Through Previews ;))
Today we go through August 2013 issue of PREVIEWS (#299, cover shown on the left), the one that you can find in stores right now and that presents all books that will ship in stores in October.

Let's start with the big NEWS everyone was waiting for: THE BLACK BEETLE IS BACK! (page 40)
YES! After a little break following the critically acclaimed first mini NO WAY OUT, The Black beetle is hitting the stores again with a second mini titled NECROLOGUE.
Above you can see my cover for the first (of five) issue that will be in stores on October 23rd.
You can read more about NECROLOGUE in this interview I did with CBR.

Someone’s murdering the citizens of Colt City, and there’s only one man who can stop this killing spree: the Black Beetle!

But as Black Beetle investigates these grisly murders, questions arise about the masked detective: Is he a daring hero or a reckless vigilante? With a past veiled in the shadow of mystery, Black Beetle takes on a dark mission that will keep you screaming in the thrilling new miniseries Necrologue!

* From the mind of Eisner Award–winning and New York Times best-selling creator Francesco Francavilla!

For TEEN+ readers.

CBLDF/TFAW Auction

Francesco Francavilla Donates Black Beetle Sketch to the CBLDF
Our Fifth Annual SDCC Autograph Card/CBLDF Auction event just keeps getting better and better! Amazing artist Francesco Francavilla (Batman, Hawkeye) has created an original sketch depicting the title character from his creator-owned series with Dark Horse Comics, The Black Beetle, and is donating it to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund!

The CBLDF is dedicated to protecting the First Amendment Rights of the comics community, offering legal counsel, informational resources, and more to comic book fans, creators, publishers, and librarians. Since 1986, they’ve worked tirelessly to support free speech, funded in part by their annual auction at San Diego Comic-Con.

For the past four years, TFAW has solicited donations from dozens of generous, talented artists on behalf of the CBLDF and is proud to have helped raise more than $100,000 for this important cause. In addition, we’ll be creating free, limited-edition sketch cards of many of this year’s pieces and giving them out at SDCC.

This is Francavilla’s second donation to the CBLDF–see his Captain America sketch from last year, below! Going to SDCC? You can bid on the original sketch at the CBLDF Auction July 20 (stay tuned for details). Plus, remember to pick up a free autograph card at the CBLDF booth at #1920. While you’re at it, make sure to stop at the TFAW booth at #5625 to browse graphic novels and more at special low prices.
